this moment

Joining with Soulemama this week.
A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.
If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see.

keep calm, craft on

Joining Nicole with this week's project...not much going on in the crafting department,
just much too busy with all of the summertime work here!  But I did start this crocheted shopping bag.  I don't use a pattern, but just "go with the flow".  Hopefully, I'll have a finished photo next week!

One year...

As a part-time employee and founding board member of our local co-op,
I've been busy planning for our 1 YEAR CELEBRATION!
It was a lovely day (the rain held off until the afternoon). :)
It's wonderful to have a community market so close for good food and good friendships!

haying

We just finished our first cutting of the season.
Our farm is only 13 acres with about half of it for pasture, so we hay two other pieces of land,
both within a few miles of our home.
A couple years ago we bartered for a hay baler,
and this year our neighbor lent us a hay wagon after are small wagon got a flat tire.
With the help of several friends, we put up 250 bales!
And enjoyed some fresh strawberry pie at the end of the last hot day!
(not the loveliest, but it sure was delish!) :)

keep calm, craft on

Joining with Nicole this week for keep calm, craft on.
As the season gets busier and busier, I'm doing less crafting.
But with the markets starting, I've been busy making my photo notecards.

in the herb garden

The herbs and flowers are growing so fast with the rain and heat we've been getting.
Lemonbalm and calendula,
and oh so many sunflowers.
I try and collect all of the volunteer sunflowers and move them to designated spots in the spring.
But as you can see, there are sunflowers in almost every picture.
I'm excited for the ones with the purple stems...those I planted from seed this spring.
And chamomile.  We love chamomile.
There is nothing like homegrown chamomile tea on a cold winter night.

around the farm (and market)

Z is down to 2 wheels now and biking all the time.
We didn't pick strawberries this year, but instead bought many, many pounds from
Wood's Market to freeze and can.
Our first market was Thursday--greens, greens and more greens.

What's going on around your farm, garden or homestead?

one year ago

Sometimes I like to peek back at our photos from this day a year ago and see what was going on...
Last year ~
I had a dirty little farmboy on my hands,
my first very large soap order going out,
and freshly picked chamomile drying.
